Big Boy's Don't Cry

Updated: Aug 20, 2022

I wonder how it must feel

to be a little boy

and hear things like,

“Big Boys don’t cry”

When emotions come to you

As naturally as the air you breathe

Will you one day choke on them

Swallow them completely

Into a bottle

And I wonder,

As you grow into this big boy

Will your tears have dried

The ones that were meant for loss

And happiness

And triumph

And beauty

And welcoming your child into this world

I wonder how you must feel.

When for so long, you’ve been told not to.

Now, a big boy.

Who’s never felt,

So little.
